Productive community engagement is the key to independence for people living with developmental disabilities.
SCHOOL TO ADULT SERVICES Favarh begins teaching community engagement skills in high school, continuing in our school transition program and throughout adulthood. Community engagement skills are applied either through paid employment that is personally and financially rewarding or thought participation in community-based life enrichment programs.
EMPLOYMENT We offer both supported group and supported individual employment opportunities. Group employment includes working as part of a crew of four at local food service, retail or manufacturing employers, offering business services such as scanning and fulfillment and working in Favarh micro-businesses which include mailing services, fulfillment, shredding, scanning, light assembly, and landscaping. In our independent employment program we match, train, place and support individuals in appropriate competitive jobs in many different industries in the region.
LIFE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS Our life enrichment programs include volunteering at local civic and nonprofit organizations and participating in fully inclusive social and recreational activities.
TRANSPORTATION We provide transportation services for many of the people whom we serve.
Participants in Favarh programs may self-refer or be placed through the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and the Connecticut Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS).
